The Army is undergoing a major transformation in the way it does business. Just as Army Values guide the thinking, behavior, and professional ethos of every warrior, so will those same values guide the actions of those who support and sustain them. The American people hold the entire Army to a higher standard, not just the front-line Warriors. The priorities we set, the efficiencies we gain, the continuous improvements we achieve, will be attained in keeping with our Army Values. This transformation brings with it many challenges to overcome. Still, we will continually measure ourselves, and our success by our adherence to those values.

  • Loyalty: Bear true faith and allegiance to the U.S. Constitution, the Army, your unit, and other soldiers.
  • Duty: Fulfill your obligations.
  • Respect: Treat people as they should be treated.
  • Selfless Service: Put the welfare of the nation, the Army, and your subordinates before your own.
  • Honor: Live up to all the Army values.
  • Integrity: Do what's right, legally and morally.
  • Personal Courage: Face fear, danger, or adversity (Physical or Moral).

Remember: "Leadership" (LDRSHIP) is a great way to remember the start of all the Army Values.

The Cadet Creed serves as a constant reminder of the values which cadets swear to uphold. Not yet soldiers, but a representation of the army none the less, the creed is a link to soldiers long since past, it’s a reminder of what sacrifices are currently being made, and it acts as beacon of the potential each officer candidate possesses. Cadets may not be soldiers, but in time the transformation will be made, and in doing so the creed stands for the values we all strive to embody.

The Cadet Creed

I am an Army Cadet. Soon I will take an oath and become an Army officer committed to DEFENDING the values which make this Nation great. HONOR is my touchstone. I understand MISSION first and PEOPLE always

I am the PAST -- the spirit of those WARRIORS who made the final sacrifice.

I am the PRESENT -- the scholar and apprentice soldier enhancing my skills in the science of war and art of leadership.

But above all, I am the FUTURE -- the future WARRIOR LEADER of the United States Army. May God give me the compassion and judgment to lead and gallantry in battle to WIN

I will do my DUTY

Over the four years of growing as a cadet, a student will raise their right hand and swear to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States. From the moment this transition is made, a Second Lieutenant becomes responsible for epitomizing the soldier’s creed. The Soldiers Creed was established so that every member of our Army can recognize the high standards of ethical and moral conduct which our service upholds. As an officer, a Second Lieutenant must lead by example and the soldier’s creed is a solid foundation for all to follow.
